In The Midst Of Madame Peles Current Activity I Find Myself Looking For Answers

In the midst of Madame Pele’s current activity I find myself looking for answers.  Are the Legends of Madame Pele for real? If this ancient volcano goddess is in control of all of the recent volcano activity, what has shaken her up to release now and how can us as mankind make a difference?

Pele is the goddess of fire, lightning, dance, wind, volcanoes and violence.  Her name is Ka wahine`ai honua which means woman who devours the land. She is both a creator and destroyer. She is the creator of our lava flows and can cause molten fountains to fly high into the air.

When comparing Madame Pele’s activity on the Big Island of Hawaii to that of an everyday woman today, I can’t help but see that she simply has PMS.  She is quiet most of the time and seems to have cycles throughout history of having a raging temper creating countess earthquakes leading her into her time to release and flow.  So if you ask me or pretty much any women these days as to what makes us so irritable before our flowing menstrual cycle, we may say “PMS (Putting Up With Man’s Shit).” So if man’s shit is what is causing Madame Pele to burst at this time, exactly what are we humans doing to make her temper flare?pele-hawaiian-goddess-of-volcanoes-tom-hooper

Many of the legends associated with Pele and any volcanic eruption in Hawaii is attributed to Pele’s longing to be with her true love.  I am confused of who her true love is or if she even knows. Legend after legend tells about her having countless lovers, infidelities, fights and heated outbursts. There is no wonder why she is still looking for love and keeps getting upset at us men of the world.

Is the bigger picture of the love Pele is so long waiting for the unity and oneness that comes from the true meaning of Aloha?  The word Aloha seems to have lost its meaning and men don’t seem to be living from a space of Aloha. I wonder if Pele’s legends are simply stories of how men have lost Aloha, separated from their true selves and oneness and have had countless lovers, infidelities, fights and heated outbursts  causing them to forget what love is. Pele has absorbed all of mens shit and when she has had enough she has to let it out in her powerful bursts through earthquakes and destructful flowing lava.

Aloha to the Hawaiian of old meant “god in us”. Aloha is being a part of all, and all being a part of you.  I feel it is important to find the Aloha within us. Hawaiian tradition teaches that all life is connected. The ancient Hawaiian practice of ho’oponopono could be the answer to joining in Aloha and creating a difference.

The Hawaiian word ho'oponopono comes from ho'o ("to make") and pono ("right"). It is a form of mental and spiritual cleaning that could be compared to buddhist techniques for clearing karma. It has been defined as a forgiveness and reconciliation practice, cleansing of ‘errors of thought’ – the origin of problems and sickness in the physical world, according to the the Hawaiian worldview.

ho’oponopono is a mantra where one repeats the words ‘I’m sorry, please forgive me, thank you, I love you’.   The Hawaiian tradition teaches that all life is connected. So as we are all connected, not only are we able to heal ourselves, but others and our world. This could be our answer to assisting Madame Pele in finding the unity and love she has been longing for and finally  have peace.
