The annual tournament will get underway this Sunday, 07/31/2016, at 5:00 PM.     Teams from all over the world will be here to catch big fish and for a chance of capturing the HIBT's prestigious Governor's trophy.  The action starts this Sunday at 5:00 PM with the opening ceremony.  Come down to the pier and enjoy the fun.  The tournament runs all week.  Each day, the boats line up at  at 8:00 am (except Wednesday 7:00 am)  across Historic Kailua Bay. Each afternoon at  4:00 pm (except Wednesday at 3:00 pm), you can watch as the fish are weighed in.  There will be vendors and live music on the pier each day.  It is a lot of fun.

The biggest Marlin ever caught in Kona was 1,368 pounds.  it was landed in 1982 by Guy Kitaoka.  It was longer than the boat he was in.
